Plenary: Delivering Large Scale Impact through Policy – Lessons for Governments

While vibrant markets are necessary to scale clean cooking solutions, a strong enabling policy framework and government commitments to addressing the lack of access to clean cooking are also critical components in driving transformation in the sector. Favorable tax and tariff policies, cookstove standards, budgetary commitments under health, forestry, and climate priorities, and thoughtful national campaigns can all lead to growth in markets for clean cooking and drive greater impact.  This plenary session will include a moderated conversation with four ministers who have been champions of cutting-edge national programs and policies in their respective countries.  The discussion will touch on what worked and what didn’t, how the speakers felt the policies moved the market, and outline opportunities for replication of these policy models in other countries.
