Joe Obueh

Joe holds a High Diploma in Urban and Regional Planning and a Master’s degree in Energy and Petroleum Economics from Delta State University. Joe has led Project Gaia Research Studies in Nigeria since 2001. In 2009, Joe developed a private sector-led feasibility study and business plan for a national ethanol microdistillery project in Ogbomosho, Nigeria. In 2013-14, Joe secured the donation of cookstoves and ethanol fuel for the University of Chicago’s Maternal and Child Health study in Ibadan. Currently, Joe is leading the Shell/SNEPCo Commercialization Study with Forte Oil and UNIKEM, which is introducing 2,500 ethanol-methanol cookstoves into households in Lagos. Joe was an Ashden Award winner in the award’s inaugural year in 2001, when he was recognized for his work with an improved wood burning cookstove.
