Biography
Professor of Global Environmental Health, UC Berkeley, he is most well known for his work on the scale and health impacts of air pollution from household cookfires, work which Prof Smith pioneered with studies in Gujarat in the 1980s and has conducted in 10 Indian states as well is a number of other countries. He is a principal of the Collaborative Clean Air Policy Centre in New Delhi.
