Rocky Dawuni

Grammy nominated musician and Alliance ambassador

Biography

Ghanaian international music star and creative activist, Rocky Dawuni, joined the Alliance as an Ambassador in September 2012. After learning that cooking kills four million people worldwide every year, Dawuni leapt at the chance to work with the Alliance and champion this issue in his home country and abroad.

A native of Ghana, Rocky Dawuni has a vested interest in this issue. In Ghana, more than 87 percent of the population is impacted by household air pollution every day and widespread deforestation has occurred as a result of need for wood for cooking. In his role, Dawuni will help spread awareness about the dangers associated with preparing daily meals in the developing world.

Throughout his career, Dawuni has demonstrated his commitment to social justice and gender equality through his involvement with issues related to the health and economic advancement of women and children. By connecting with people through his words, Dawuni will help the Alliance reach its goal of 100 million households adopting clean cookstoves and fuels by 2020.
