Transition Scenarios: Moving Toward Clean Cookstoves and Fuels by 2030

This interactive session will set the stage for a broader discussion among the sector to develop possible transition scenarios for advancing access to clean cookstoves and fuels, building on existing work by PBL, IIASA, EPA, the Alliance, and the World Bank. Panelists will share their thoughts on the best way to develop transition scenarios towards clean cooking, thereby contributing towards achieving the Alliance’s goal of fostering the adoption of clean cookstoves and fuels in 100 million households by 2020 and the SE4All and SDG7 target of ensuring access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all by 2030. The session will be introduced by PBL Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency, summarizing existing work on transition scenarios towards clean cooking and proposing model improvements and new scenarios to address above stated challenges. The audience will be invited to share their thoughts on relevant transition scenarios and on important aspects which have to be taken into account in these scenarios.
